Should young people have idols?

Why every one of us needs idols or examples? Why we need TV shows like “Slovensko hľadá superstar” or other factories for production factitious stars, idols, singers or examples? Why?
To be sure, nobody can influence it. We are only consumers of that, what mass mediums give to us. We absorb all we see in TV or we read in daily press… Anyone wants to have someone to be similar to him/her. We have to wear the same clothes as she/he. We have to behave like he or she. We like no only her or his good qualities but unfortunately her and his shortcomings and bad habits.
We can find our idol in TV, in Radio programme or we can find him during our daily routine and common life. I am not that view, that example must be famous, nice, or have to have a lot of money…In my opinion it must be person like John Paul the 2nd, Ernesto “CHE” Gueavara, Geronimo (the last Indian leader), Leonardo da Vinci, Mother Tereza, Móhandás Gándhí, Nelson Mandela, Jesus Christ, Martin Luther King or my mother, father, teacher and shop assistant or my schoolmate…someone who has made or is still making something good for other people. Guy, who improves your mood. It can be very good to have example, but on the other hand it can damage our individuality and character. We have to choose our examples or idols with caution.
I hope, that a lot of us will find out, what TV can do with our healthy(?) mind. We are able to forget for our duties or to let our friends alone only for one TV programme. Sometimes we forget that real idols or examples is right now sitting beside us or is right now making dinner for you…
After all we have had idols and we will have them, but we have to learn that we don’t need them so much and we shouldn’t let them change us…
