History
Shimano was established as Shimano Iron Works in Japan in February 1921 by Shozaburo Shimano and about ten years later Shimano began to export its original freewheel. Shimano walked through a long history, through hard times until 1991, when Shimano adopted its current name. Many production plants, organizations sponsored by Shimano, local branches and sales offices all around the world were established, like factory Shimano Czech Republic, s. r. o., in Czech Republic for example.
