Food
I think that food and eating generally is an important part of life. I am not ashamed (as many people are) because of my love to eating. For me, a good day begins with a good breakfast with many kinds of cheese and salami and with good bread with butter or jam. I like cooking, too, but I can´t cook as well as my mother who cares about our family. Sometimes, my father cooks, but he doesn´t like cooking - and according to it, the meal looks so.
I am going to continue. If staying at school, I need to have a very good lunch. Usually I have bread or twist with salami or cheese and as a side-dish, I often have a salad. I almost forgot that I begin lunch with yoghurt; I prefer yogurts with fruit. Along with lunch, I like to have some soft drink or a coffee. Because I am quite talkative, I sometimes forget to eat and am very hungry the other lessons. So my collywobbles irritate my schoolmates.
When I am not at school, I have my lunch at home (often prepared by my mother) because I don´t like the meals at school. I have a very productive lunch, because I go to fit-center and I need a lot of energy. Usually I have some tomato/chicken soup, with potatoes and then I have a main course such as chicken or any other meat with potatoes, rice or dumplings, with sauce and so on. Sometimes I have a dessert, too - fancy bread, tart or pudding.
I usually have my dinner at six o´clock . I eat bread with something or flakes.
So, that´s all about my daily meals. I am going to speak about food in foreign countries now.
The British like to begin the day with a nice cup of coffee or tea in bed early in the morning. After that, they have a breakfast. They don´t like to hurry. I think that it´s good because our (Czech) breakfasts are often in haste and that´s not good for health.
As a breakfast, the British enjoy cereals (such as cornflakes) and juice. They drink many coups of tea or coffee. The midday meal is generally called lunch. Lunch consists of a hot dish (soup), salad, ham and cheese sandwiches, pizza and dessert.
It is teatime around four o´clock While in our country an afternoon snack is not common, it is a special occasion in Britain . The traditional "tea" consists of thin slices of bread and butter with cheese, fish or ham and jam. Nowadays many people don´t eat much at the teatime but they have at least one cup of coffee or tea. The hot dinner (which is served around 7 o´clock) may have three or four courses. It consists of soup or some other starter, the main course (meat and fish with vegetables) which is followed by a dessert and finally biscuits and cheese. We can also find differences between regions in Great Britain, for example England and Scotland, but these differences aren´t very big.
During special occasions such as Christmas, traditional food is served both in Britain and our country. Fish soup, fried carp and potato salad is commonly made for Christmas. If talking about me, our family doesn´t eat carp, my mother namely makes fillets with salad. As a dessert , we have home sweets - such as in Great Britain. When my family travels, we don´t eat the same food as usually. It´s because we have to eat outside, in a restaurant or a snack bar.
Even when food is very important for us, we often minimize it and that´s not good for our health. We hear every day about being fat in TV. Many people eat a lot of but they work "light"- they have a sitting-job such as working with a computer. This situation isn´t good for or health, too. I think it is hard to find an ideal situation.
