Food is one of frequent topics of peoples conversation, especially among women who often exchange recipes and give each other advice on how to cook a delicious meal, but there are also a lot of men who are fond of cooking. I tis interesting that most chefs in famous restaurants all over the world are men.
People need to have a well-balanced diet, preferably low-fat and high-fibre to be healthy and in good condition. Diet experts say we should eat four or five times a day and in small portions. Eating habits are different in different countries depending on people´s daily routine. People on the Contiment usually eat three meals a day: a light breakfast, dinner which is the main meal of the day supper. In the morning some people start the day by drinking one or two cups of black coffee to wake themselves up, others prefer a light breakfast and drink tea with lemon. The main meal of the day – dinner – is served around noon between 11:30 am and 2,30 pm and usually consist of hot soup, a piece of meat with potatoes or rise, fresh or preserved vegetable salad and a dessert. Supper is served between 6-8 pm and is a lighter meal, like some pasta with vegetables or a piece of piyya, sausages or hamburgers.
The tradional American breakfast consist od fruit juice, eggs, some kind of meat (bacon or sausage) and toasts. On Saturdays and Sundays many people eat brunch late in the morning. It is breakfast amd lunch together, including pancakes and waffles eaten with butter and maple syrup. Lunch in Britain may be eaten at any time after midday. Working people are allowed about an hour off for lunch during lunch hour or lunch break. British lunch is a light meal and it may be a hot dish in a restaurant or a packed lunch . many students and working people prefer a packed lunch of sanwiches and fruit.
Dinner is an evening meal in Britain. It is usuallyu a cooked masl with meat or fish andd vegetable salad followed by a dessert. A US diner often consist of dishes bought ready-prepared and heated in a microware oven. In many American families people in the family eat a different times and rarely sit down at the table together.
Many people also eat between meals. Most have tea or coffe at mid-morning. In addition many people chocolate bars, bischuits or crisps.
