Food

Thanks to the importance of food in whole human beeing, it became the most frequent topic in peoples conversation all over the world. Especially women are so often talking about food when they´re exchanging recipes or giving advices to each other how to do some meal. But despite the fact that it´s do often the women duty to prepare meal, most of chefs in famous restaurants are men. It´s a little bit strange, isn´t it? People need to have a well-balanced diet which is low-fat for beeing healthy and in good condition.

Scientists who are involved in studying diet and human eating habits say that we should eat four or five times a day in small portions. We know that eating habits are different everywhere because it´s depending on daily routine. We usually have three meals per day like breakfast, dinner and supper. The most important and main meal of the day is dinner. In the morning some people start their day with cup of cofee to wake them up, others prefer milk or tea. After this they´re usually eat some small light-meal as cornflakes or bread with ham and butter, some of them sausages. The main meal of the day is usually served between 11.30am. and 14.30pm. Diner usually consist of hot soup, then second meal which is usually meat with rice or potatoes, salad, pastries or fish.

Finally we´re serving a desert after dinner. Supper is served between 6 to 8 pm. and it should be a lighter meal if we do not want to become fat. Lot´s of people are spending supper time in restaurants with friends or families. That´s very popular at weekends often in large cities, where people have so busy life at work and they don´t have enough time for preparing supper. Every country has own eating habits. For example Britain is very specific in this case. They´re preparing for breakfast fried bacon with eggs and fried bread, buttered toast, bread with marmelade, fried tomatoes, cornflakes, sausages or baked beans. For drinking they´re having tea or cofee.

The variety of eating a breakfast is wide. Nowdays people´ve already became a health conscious and they´re prefering not to eat so fat meals but low-fat diet, cereals, granula or croissants with fruit juices which are quite healthy. On the other side the traditional American breakfast consist of juices, eggs, some meat in different forms, toast and also like British, with cornflakes. Some of them, often at weekend, sleep longer then during the week, so they eat brunch late in the morning. It´s breakfast and lunch together, including pancakes or waffles eaten with butter and syrup, especially maple syrup in Canada.

In our country have people many possibilities where to go for catering. We have restaurants, school canteens, which are associated with schools together or fast food burger stands. So I can say that catering is quite well organized in our country and schoolable children or working adults have good possibilities for catering. But it´s undoubtedly true that eating at home is the best way, because slovak cuisine is very specific and tasty. Typical feature of slovak cuisine is using a lot of meatless meal like noodles and potatoes , then meat in bacon form or baked meat as lamb, pork, beef, roast, chicken or mutton.

So important feature for us are vegetable soups and drinking beer and milk, which is often modified in different ways. In conclusion I´d like to say that we´re not living for eating, but we´re eating for living. So be careful and don´t flash up so much, just enjoy food in suitable quantity
