FOOD AND DRINK
People carry out so many different activities in one day, but one thing they never forget to do is eating.
Our first food is usually breakfast. Most frequently we eat bread with (and) butter and jam, cheese or ham, we drink milk, tea or coffee. Our breakfast differs from typical English breakfast, which consists of toasts, corn flakes and eggs. We must always remember that breakfast must be healthy, light and easily digestible.
Around noon is lunchtime. It is our main meal. A lot of people take (eat) their lunch at a local canteen or at a school canteen, but at weekends we usually cook lunch at home. Our lunch is made up with soup and the main dish, which can be followed, by vegetable salad or desert.
Time for dinner comes at six o´clock in the evening. At this time the entire family is usually together.
Some people prefer going to a restaurant or having fast food in McDonalds. But people don´t eat out very often, because restaurants are quite expensive – they usually go to restaurants only on special occasions. In the restaurant a waiter or waitress serves you. He or she offers us the menue and waits until we select our meal; depending on our choice. The waiter brings us the food and drinks. All around us we can see fast food restaurants. But fast food like burgers and cola are taking over the world. But we sometimes forget own national dishes.
Some parents are teaching their children bad eating habits and TV advertisements have bad influence on children´s diet, too. Children often go to sweet-shops, but sugar is bad for their teeth.
Everybody likes eating something different, but of course, every meal should include fruits and vegetables. Our national meal is roated pork with sauerkraut and dumplings. More healthy fish and poultry are slowly replacing beef and pork. Our meal is sometimes too fat and unhealthy, we don´t eat enough vegetables. It is healthy to drink at least one glass of mineral water, juice, tea or beer, after each meal. Scientists recommend drinking at least two liters of water a day ( per day ).
Lots of people, especially teenagers, stop eating meat because of concerns of animals. Giving up meat can sometimes be a warning sign of something more serious, like an eating disorder. Experts say many young women who suffer from anorexia start out as vegetarians. But I think that it isnť entirely true. When you want to be slimmer you can try a diet, but I don´t believe in them, because when you eat something with more calories, then all the weight you lost will be back again. It is better to eat more vegetables and fruits, cereal, and other low caloric and healthy food. And it is also better to eat your last meal before seven PM. Finally, when you sit and do nothing, then all the calories are turned into fat, so I can recommend you to be more active.
