Environment

22.april is the day of The Earth. Do not forget this day !Our Earth has many beauties of nature. We have big mountains, for example Alps, Himalajas where in winter time we can go skiing, and in summer we can go climbing. It is a place where we can drink clean water and we can relax. There are lots of trees, lakes where we can swim in the summer time. But lot of from these lakes are pollution.

Lot of people do not see that in the nature around them there is a lot of pollution. In Slovakia we have got the river Danube where we can go sailing. When my mum was younger the river next our town Nitra was cleaner, and my mum sometimes swim there.

The biggest environmental organisation is Green Peace. This organisation defend all of nature. It is everywhere. This organisation is watching the big companies how do they care our nature. They are watching the animals, if they know, that somebody has broken some rules.

Don` t forget, that lot of animals are in danger, because hunters kill them. For example: koala bears, pandas, elephant…But no only the hunters kill the animals. In Brazil lot of from the rainforest are damaged. With these animals witch live there, lose their home and in the end they die. Before 100 years ago rainforest cover 12 % of the Earth. Today it is only 5%!Today trees are in serious danger. In the 20th century many of the elm trees in Europe were killed by Dutch elm disease. These new danger attack all trees. First the branches turn yellow and brown .Then the trees needles or leaves fall. The roots and the trunk shrink. Finally the trees die. But what is killing the trees? Nobody knows exactly, but it is probably air pollution or acid rain. Acid rain is the mixture of the smoke, sulphur dioxid, nitrogen oxid, water vapour. If the trees die we will too.

The most ecological problems of today are the pollution of water, air, soil. If you tell somebody –Don` t use the water!-he can` t imagine you, because we use water everyday everywhere. There are terrible water shortages all over the world. In parts of Africa and China many people don` t have clean water to drink. We all need the water to survive. The solution begins at home. We can save the water from our baths and use it for the garden. This would help to save many litres of water. If factories recycled water and stopped pouring chemicals into our rivers there would be a lot more cleaner water around.

The ozone layer is a special type of oxygen around the Earth. It protects the earth from ultraviolet radiation which comes from the Sun. Chemicals destroy the ozone layer. They help to make hole in it. Too much ultraviolet radiation enters to the Earth` s atmosphere, but they can` t go out, because the hole is` t on it` s place. This is the greenhouse effect. It means the Earth` s climate is changing. So the Earth is getting warmer and warmer. If there will be warmer, the ice on the poles will melt , the water will be higher and it will make floods.

I` m a scout. We learn defend all of nature. We have got some camp. In this camp we are sleeping in the nature. Here we are learning about the nature, too.
