Milos Forman Miloš Forman was born in 1932 in Čáslav in Czechoslovakia and he is one of the few foreign directors who have success in the American film industry. I do not have much free time, but I have a lot of hobbies. I have many different types of hobbies. When I was very young, I spend my time playing with toy trucks. When I get older I start with my first hobbies. I go out for a sport like football, tennis, I ride bicycle or together with my family I go to the mountains. But I am interesting in less active activities like reading or keyboard playing. As I get older my hobbies are changing. This time I love computers and internet surfing. My big hobby now is working on my own homepage. With the tim

This story is about one dog called Buck. Buck lived in Mr. Miller’s house in California. He was four years old and weighed sixty kilos. He loved Mr. Miller’s family. He went walking and swimming with them and sat by his owner’s fire in winter. He really loved this live. But it was 1897 and dogs like Buck were needed in Yukon, where people found gold. That all people are equal and deserve an equal opportunity in life. They should all be treated fairly and with the same level of respect. This is one of the most basic principles of American philosophy. That everyone is free to be an individual. Americans don’t believe in conforming to a general ideology or behavior. Individuality and self-expression are encouraged. That competition brings out the best in people and in businesses. Competition is another of the basic principles of
After the crowd of villagers had dispersed on that merry Christmas day of the sled race, Nicholas was stopped at the door of the cottage where he had spent the last year by a lean, dark looking man who looked as though he had never smiled in his life. It was Bertram Marsden the wood carver of the village, who all the children called “Mad Marsden” because he lived alone, rarely spoke to anybody and chased the children away from his door with black looks and harsh words. “You haven’t forgotten have you Nicholas that you move to my
We would like to introduce you one part of English. It is the relative clause. There are many parts of English grammar. Although the relative clauses in English language are very similar to relative clauses in Slovak language, they are translated in a different way. Just as the sentence may be indefinitely complex, so may the noun phrase. This must be so, since sentences themselves can be reshaped so as to come within noun-phrase structure. For example this simple and complex sentences: A/ The woman is Bathsheba Everden. The woman
William Shakespeare (1564 – 1616) wrote many works. His top dramatic works are: Romeo and Juliet (1595), Hamlet (1601), Othello (1604) etc. Two years after the edition of the Sonnets we can see his anger in an epilogue from The Tempest (1611): Now my charms are all o´erthrown, And what strength I have´s mine own, Which is most faint… . Odvrhol som všetky taje, Mám len vlastnú silu – tá je Stokrát slabšia… But when "his own strength", of which fruit are Sonnets, is hundre
Comparison of the Definite Article and of the Indefinite Article
Determination of nouns in English language is realized by using “the definite article“ and “the indefinite article“.
In actual usage, nouns appear in noun phrases, and the kind of reference such a noun phrase has depends on the accompanying determiner. We distinguish three classes of determiners, set up on the basis of their position in the noun phrase in relation to each other:  Central determiners (eg: the, a, this) &
I would like to analyse this work, which is one of the best works, written by Daniel Defoe. Defoe was one of the first to write stories about believable characters in realistic situations using simple prose. He achieved literary immortality when in April 1719 he published Robinson Crusoe, which was based partly on the memoirs of voyagers and castaways, such as Alexander Selkirk. He was the son of a Scottish tanner, who became the master of the Cinque Ports Galley, a privateering ship. As a punishment of insubordination, he was castaway on Mas a
There are many traditions, holidays and festivals all over the world. But not every country has the same traditions. The most celebrated holidays are Christmas, New Year´s Day, Easter and also St. Valentine´s Day. This holidays are the most famous and favourite holidays in the most countries of the world. Every country has its own holidays and traditions for that holidays. For example Slovak republic has All saints holidays and Anniversary of Slovak national Uprising, Mother´s Day etc. There are also some typically `American` holidays: Hallo
A few centuries ago people knew only a few kinds of communication. They could speak to each other, they could send their message from one place to another by smoke signals. Our world is very huge and sending a message from America to Asia a hundred years ago was nearly impossible or it took a lot of time. Nowadays we can send the message in a few seconds and it´s very simple. The first expansion of media was when the radio and television were invented. The second and the biggest boom started in 1960s when the first communication satelli
In 1922 a person that was later to become the best known tyrant (leader) of all time, became the secretary-general of the Bolshevik party. He got to power by his close friendship with the General Secretary who told him about everything that was going on in the party and made sure all the posts were filled with his supporters. He brought on economic reforms by his “five year plans” and collectivization and he perhaps avoided occupation and total annihilation by Germans for “Lebensraum” (place to live). Stalin definitely wasn’t a good p

By the 1790s, George Washington had become the symbol of America. He kept the new nation in control and helped realize its ideas. As a man, he was over six feet tall (about two meters) much taller than the norm for those days, so his greatness was measured not only by his accomplishments but also his height. In the final year of Washington´s presidency, his portrain paintes, life-size, b
I often suffer from a lack of free time. It isn´t easy for an young person to find the time to enjoy culture. Children aren´t generally interested in culture at their age, while adults are short of free time. Despite being so busy, almost everybody finds the time to go to the cinema, the theatre or an exhibition. Sometimes I go to the cinema with my friends. In our town there isn´t very big cinema and the seats are uncomfortable. My favourite cinema is in Brno. It´s called Star century Olympia. I like comedies and sometimes action mo
