All the history of this town is connected with the gold and silver mining. The population of B.Štiavnica is cca 14,000 people. Now , it is not very much , but in the past ; B.Štiavnica was with the same population one of the biggest towns in R-U .
SIGHTS TO SEE
There are a lot of historical relieshere. One of the most visited places is New Castle. It was built against the Turkish invasion. Than you can visit Calvary , Klopačka , Old castle or the museum of mining. Banská Štiavnica is also home to a number of museums. The most of them are situated in anglictina/the-town-where-i-live-ceske-budejovice/" class="wiki-link" title="Viac o: the town">the town centre.
SHOPPING
The most of Štiavnicas shops are situated in the town centre. There you can buy everything you want. There are also special shops for tourists , where they can buy many various souvenirs or gifts in good prices.
NIGHTLIFE
In the night , it is no problem where to go dance or go for a drink . We have here 5 discos and more than 20 pubs and clubs . So you can choose. The best pubs and all the discos are situated in the town centre. They are very good , but I think for students too expensive.
We have not here any typical or ethnic pub ,where you can find for example special drinks or music.
RESTAURANTS
Eating is really no problem in Banská Štiavnica , because there are number of good restaurants here. There are 8 good restaurants only in the town centre. But we have not here only „universal“ restaurants , where you can find everything ,, . There are also : chineese , italian , greece or hunting restaurants.
