PRE – SCHOOL
There are a lot of private nurseries in big cities, but you have to pay, when your children visit these nursrries. Children start to go at the nursery at the age of 3 years and finish when they are 6 years old. They come at nursery in the morning and they stay to 3 – 4 p.m. During the day they play with dolls, cars and other toys. They learn songs, poems, riddles and tonguestwisters. Sometimes they watch TV. They sleep in the afternoon. They have midmorning snack, lunch and tea.
PRIMARY EDUCATION
Children start Basic school at six years. There are two grades on Basic school : In the 1.grade are classes from 1. to 4. and in the 2.grade are classes from 5. to 9. Compulsory education on Basic school takes 10 years. School year takes 10 months from September to June. Lesson begins at 8 a.m. and finishes in the afternoon. Lesson takes 45 minutes. There are short breaks between lessons. Subjects on Basic school are language/" class="wiki-link" title="Viac o: slovak language">Slovak language, Math, Biology, Chemistry, Geography, languages, PE, Art and Music. The main holidays in school year are from July to September .But when you are good pupil, that means you usually get good marks, you can enter The Grammar-school, but you have to pass entrance exams. SECONDARY EDUCATION
Students start study on secondery school, when they are 15 years old. They must to pass entrance exams. You can choose Grammar school, Comprehensive school, Apprentice school, or Conservatory. First lesson starts at 7.45 a.m. and the last one finishes in the afternoon. Lesson takes 45 minutes and breaks from 5 to 15 minutes. Holidays in winter take 3 weeks. The main holidays take 2 months.
-Grammar school It is a 4-year school, which prepares students for study on university. The study takes 4 years and finishes with a leaving examination. -Conservatory It is a specific school, which prepares students for(in) these branches: singing, dancing, dramatic art. It takes 6 or 8 years. -Comprehensive school (SOŠ) It grantes(renders) specialist education, but it prepares student for study on university. The study takes 4 years and finishes with a leaving examination. -Apprentice school (SOU) The study takes 3 or 4 years. When you are studying for 3 years, you finish with a final exam, but when you are studying for 4 years you finish with a leaving examination.
