Mr. Jason Ruen Human Resources Department National Geographic Society 1145 17th Street N.W. Washington, D.C. 20036-4688

Dear Mr. Ruen, I am very interested in working for your magazine as a photographer. I have been a great admirer of National Geographic for many years and I believe that my high qualifications and years of experience are appropriate for this position.

After graduating from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago with a major in Photography, I completed a Master’s Degree in Wildlife Photography from the Columbia School of Journalism. An internship for the Discovery Channel and seven years of work for Nature Magazine helped me gain valuable experience. I have also been awarded by the American Photographic Society as Photographer of the year 2001.

I come from a multicultural background and speak fluently three languages. Throughout my career I have been recognized as a very enthusiastic, professional and hardworking person. Active membership in the International Photographers’ Society and volunteering for Environmental Organization takes up most of my free time. I believe that working for National Geographic would challenge me and offer significant personal improvement. In return, my technical experience and interest in new photographic technologies would be a great contribution to the National Geographic Society.

I look forward to discussing with you my possibilities for this position. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me during business hours. I am also willing to meet you and talk to you personally. I am positive that my abilities would be highly appreciated and will add value to your organization. Sincerely,

Ivana Brown.
